Get To Know Me

Thursday, December 31, 2015

The year is quietly ending for me, after so much of the opposite has been going on, but I’m sure it’s been a crazy ride all throughout for a whole bunch of you! I realise I haven’t really gone around to introducing myself properly!

I’ll start with ten things you guys would probably not know!

I’m a big fan of Taylor Swift.

Okay, maybe this one's obvious. I believe I've mentioned before that I only really began to try red lipstick because of T-Swizzle. I’ve always loved her, but I really started to go crazy for everything about her when I listened to her RED album. I thought it was phenomenal. 1989 blew my mind, obviously.

…I’m also a big fan of One Direction.

No shame. I’ve loved the lads ever since my (then) 12 y/o niece showed me a video of One Thing. Speaking of, I really want their new perfume…

My favorites are ranked accordingly: Liam, Harry Louis, Niall. I wasn’t too broken up over losing Zayn, and if they ever need a fifth member again, there’s always James Corden:

My current favourite song right now is Taylor Swift’s Style.

That song is perfect for anything. Midnight drives, getting ready, dancing with my cat—anything! Bonus: One Direction’s Perfect because yes, guys, what a time to be alive. Harry Styles and Taylor Swift are writing songs to each other.

I’ve got a big love for history, but specifically war history.

I’m a massive geek for all things WWII, all thanks to my brother and my father. I’m also a fan of German and Japanese engineering at that time, specifically German tanks and Japanese planes. Not going to go too much into detail of how incredibly odd this interest is, but I can easily tell most WWII tanks apart.

My guilty pleasures are obviously food and makeup.

Hot cocoa with a massive dollop of whipped cream is my ultimate guilty pleasure. Dust a coat of cocoa powder on top and ugh don’t look at me. The next two are probably neutral eyeshadows and matte pink lipsticks because I have so many of them and justifying another purchase just makes me feel so guilty!

In my bag, you’ll find:

My Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Elusive, my phone, a compact mirror, and my wallet. If it’s a party, I’d bring whatever lipstick I used for the night. I don’t actually bring that much make-up along, even for touching up.

I have a favourite quote.

I don’t know if favourite quotes are still a common thing or what, but I love taking down quotes from books I’ve read or found elsewhere. One of my favourite authors is C.S. Lewis and he is literally a treasure trove of some of the best literary lines. My favourite, though, is:

“There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”
― C.S. Lewis

But for runner-ups:

“Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.”
― C.S. Lewis

“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”
― C.S. Lewis

Squeaks isn’t my only pet.

She’s certainly my favourite (shhh), but I also have Scoops, my boyfriend’s tom cat. We also have a Husky named Bali, a Great Dane named Bonnie, and a poodle named Bailey. It was completely unintentional that all our cats start with S's and our dogs in B’s!

The first makeup product I ever owned was BB cream.

My mom gifted me with a high SPF bb cream instead of a normal sunscreen when I was old enough to start slathering sun protection on my teenage face. It was Skin79’s Hot Pink bb cream.

I have a big brother!

My big brother is one of the most influential people in my life. He’s influenced the majority of my interests, and I owe a lot to him for funding my first dip into the make up world lol. He’s studying law (and voice acting!) in Japan right now, and as I’m in Japan with my family often, it’s rare that we not see each other for more than half a year. He’s in charge with all my awesome Japanese skincare care packages!

I'd love to know you more, too! Tell me ten things about yourself, maybe in a comment or in a blog post!

And with that, happy new year's eve! Hope you've had a blessed year! See you in 2016!
