Skincare Routine 2016

Thursday, February 18, 2016

Hi guys! I took a bit of a break, didn't I? After my winter stint in Tokyo, I've been kind of recuperating and acclimating to the the heat again, but looks like I'm going to get thrust back into the cold because my boyfriend and I are heading to Hong Kong tomorrow! We'll be staying for two days at Disneyland! I'm excited. Like, really excited.

A lot has recently changed in my skincare routine, mostly with the addition of snails (heh) and a whole bunch of ‘perfect’ products. But it’s been doing really well for my skin, so far, and I used the exact same routine here in hot ol’ Manila for freezing, below zero Winterfell Tokyo. And I’m happy to report that because the products are all so easily absorbed but incredibly moisturising, I’ve had pretty much the most cooperative skin ever!!! Achievement unlocked!

I’m not, like, a super follower of the Korean skincare routine but I’ve kind of based my daily stuff from it, although I really do wish I had the time and money to invest in a more intensive routine, because my brother’s ex is Korean and her skin is legitimately flawless (she moisturised every four hours!!! And even during her sleeping time, she’d have an alarm to wake her up just to moisturise!!!).

I.

I really don’t do much here. I used to just splash water on my face and call it a day, and I guess I’ve leveled up a notch now because during AM and PM, I use the Shiseido Perfect Whip. It’s just the right amount of gentle. It doesn’t exactly whip up, despite its name though (lies!!). For makeup, I swear by the Biore Perfect Oil through and through. I hoard the refills each time I’m in Japan.

II.

I typically alternate between my SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion and my Aloe Derma Soothing & Moisturising Toner. I actually love the Aloe Derma one—the scent is so nice and it’s honestly super soothing on my skin. After either, I pat on the Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion (Hello Kitty edition!! Yay!) because it makes my skin so supple and happy.

III.

My boyfriend gave me the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, but without it, I probably wouldn’t have this section lol. I actually love the SK-II, though, but can’t justify repurchasing it because it’s so expensive……. But it really did do wonders for my skin—completely normalised the shit out of it.

I use the Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask twice a week (with my boyfriend l o l), and I love how clean my whole face feels after each session. I’d repurchase this in a heartbeat, but it’s a good thing the jar is, like, filled to the brim and you only need to little to cover your entire face.

IV.

Ah, my favorite part of my whole routine. My skin craves snail mucus, forreals. CosRX’s Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence is literally the best thing during winter, during humid afternoons, during anytime of the day. It’s just so light, so easily absorbed, and so hydrating. I can honestly feel it heal my skin every day—redness, gone! Same with the Mizon All in One, although the results of that one weren’t nearly as dramatic.

I bought the eye cream on a whim—I don’t actually know if it’s doing much for that area (lol), but it’s super cooling! Yay?

I use the Hada Labo Perfect Gel (do most of the stuff I use have ‘perfect’ in it…) every night as a sleeping mask. I used that in winter in Japan, too, especially because we had a broken humidifier and I’d wake up with an ultra parched throat, but completely supple skin because of this thing. Magic.

V.

Sunscreen. I worship sunscreen at its feet. There’s nothing more imperative than sunscreen in my life. I panic when I don’t get to slather its glorious protection all over my face and neck. My go-to used to be my La Roche Posay, but lol, that was SO expensive and actually quite greasy, so I tried out Biore’s and never looked back. NEVER. My first was the Perfect Milk (there’s that word again), and it was just so lightweight and matte, I couldn’t believe it.

During winter, I tried out the AQUA Rich Watery Gel for a more moisturising alternative, and yeah, definitely hydrating but still dries to a matte finish. Either way, both are heaven sent. I literally used to hate this part of my routine because eeuughh greasy whiteness, but now it’s just so lovely to put on that it practically feels like another moisturiser.
